Outrage! - An ironic look at the hysteria of modern society
by Ivan Vramin
Festival premiere for the film Outrage! at Sofia Short Fest 2025
Modern man is immersed in an unprecedented flow of information. We live in an age where everyone fancies themselves an expert on every subject. The uncontrolled sharing of opinions and news on social networks has led to a devaluation of truth. But how can we navigate ourselves in the mazes of the internet?
These and more questions arise as we watch director Ivette Ivanova's short film “Outrage!”. A title that Sofia Short Fest premieres as part of the official selection for professional feature films in the first edition of the festival.
The film engages us in the story of an innocent student's note that becomes a cause for public discontent, protests, dismissals, and turmoil in the administration of a school. The social pressures demand a swift reaction from the management, who find themselves unprepared for such a situation.
In today's hyper-paced information space, any news can become a sensation in no time. Everything is happening at such an incredible speed that by the time we realize what it was all about, something new has replaced it. At the same time, one seems obliged to take a stand on many social issues, even if one is not sufficiently familiar with the case.
But do we have the time to check whether what we have read on social media has any basis in reality? What if it was all a mistake that spread at the speed of light, a confusion that affected multiple human lives?
This 18-minute comedy will genuinely make us laugh, but it will also cause us to reflect on the ways we inform ourselves and the actions we take as a result.
