Young playwright Nicola comes home from California to watch the rehearsals of his new play. During the rehearsal process, he is not only surprised by what he sees, but also provoked to display the firmness of his temper, as nothing remains of his play from what he meant initially. When commenting the actors about the way they present the lines, Nicola is called by the director of the theater for an important conversation. During this conversation, he realizes the manipulativeness of the situation - he does not have the word in his play, and on top of that they call him petty, because he insists on one of the commas in the text. This conflict unlocks a memory from the character's past. We see the child Nicola, who made the number 9 shirt with great enthusiasm and desire, and later the pitch for football kids have teased him that the nine looks like a comma. These harassment and bullying make the boy go far. Nicola moved all the way to California, where no one can mock on him. As he grows older, he begins to realize how important commas are in life. At the same time, this memory makes him feel bad and stay in one and the same place. The argument between him and the director of the Theater unlocks in him this unhealed wound from his past, but also reveals and unfolds how necessary it is for the Playwright to let go of this pain so as to develop as a Playwright.
